The first SCP idea I ever had (long before joining this site) was for a type of disease. At first, the idea was to have a disease the spread through psychological means. It then went to a virus that affected you if you saw an infected host. It went through a few more phases of that such as: spreading through a phrase, spreading through a mindset, spreading through sound. I'm saying all this so you can understand where I was coming from and maybe where I went wrong.
What I eventually settled on was a disease that formed a wormhole in the skull of its victims, and looking into the "portal" was how it spread. The "portal" would also emit a sound that terrified those who heard it to the point that they would do anything to destroy it, getting infected along the way. The "virus" kept its hosts stable through unknown means, keeping the portal exposed through the eyes and mouth, infecting onlookers. People who are partially to completely deaf and/or blind are immune.
I think I like this idea because of the aesthetic of the horror. Having something with its mouth and eyes open wide, nothing behind it but a black formless void being the last thing you see before being infected. Though, there are a lot of problems from here, a lot of questions I don't would have to answer. I don't know if the idea is worth my time, or if I'm even skilled enough to tastefully put it into words. I'm open to any sort of feedback, even if you just want to shut the idea down. I've got plenty of other ideas to get started on, but I can't bring myself to make a decision on this one.
Thanks!
