SCP Foundation

I’ve had this idea floating around in my head that’s i’ve Been wanting to work out.

It is centered around a Porcelain Ball and socket doll with no distinguishing features. They are able to move under their own power, are sentient, and show signs of limited Sapience. This however would not be their main effect.

Their main effect is an alarming ability to translocate to the shoulder of Class 3 to 5 personnel’s shoulders at variable times before a containment breach, enemy attack, or other disaster that would endanger the subject life. These creature would immediatly, upon appearing on the person’s shoulder, force them to experience an overpowering flight response along with anyone within close proximity of the subject.

This will lead to the subject most likely escaping danger before a disaster begins.

I’m thinking of making this come from some other dimension with another foundation, but that seems like some extra unnessasary stuff.

Any thoughts or such to improve the concept or perhaps make the concept worth the time?

I'm not really feeling this one. It's pretty thin on background for why this thing exists, and does what it does, with a dash of compulsion and helping-Foundation for good measure. These latter two should be avoid - compulsion will come across to the reader as covering up a thin concept, and the Foundation is loathe to use anomalies that are even extremely helpful unless the situation requires it.

The concept, is… okay, I guess? But it really needs strong background and genesis for why it works the way it works.

Don't think about an SCP being an object. Think of it as a story told through a really weird format. The object plays a role in that story, but it's not the story itself.

This is a very common pitfall for an SCP we tend to call the magic object. It's a thing that does a thing. A common archetype in Series 1, but it's fallen out of favor, giving way to more complex documents and stories.

Definitely look into the story you can tell with this SCP, rather than it just being a thing doing a thing. Objects can be alike - but stories are almost always different.
