What you're doing here is something I like to call Rogeting. You have a neat picture and a neat concept for the objects themselves. The problem I have is that I don't understand their behavior, and it seems obtuse and subject to so many artificial (i.e. author-constructed) rules that it breaks my suspension of disbelief substantially. They're intangible objects that are disconnected from Earth's gravity, friction, and the physical contact of other objects, but they don't just fly away from Earth? Why isn't the rotation of the Earth and movement around the sun just pulling the Earth away from the statues? And with that movement, why can't it float through the atmosphere? You basically just say "uh, it can, it just doesn't"; it's pretty unsatisfying.
Basically, I'm imagining something sort of like the random objects that float around the screen in screen savers, bouncing off the sides of the screen. I can tell there's something that's supposed to be explanation in that last line, but there isn't enough. I suggest you come up with or insert more of a backstory to explain the very specific and unusual properties of the object.
