The Foundation Training Course is a discord server (wait, don't leave!!) made to teach people new to SCP, about SCP in a unique and interactive way. Basically, youtube readings made into a discord server.
How it works
We pick "lecturers" that teach on request, or scheduled lectures. For unscheduled lectures a user would put a request in its dedicated channel and if a lecturer sees this and isn't busy, they "lecture" the requester. Classrooms are not locked either, so anyone could join in at any time.
Now we do also have scheduled lectures that work differently; these lectures are big, server-wide events where we read a highly requested document and then hang out for a while after. After the official "event" is over, we still take request from curious members.
What's in a lecture?
Typically, lecturers are required to have a 'character' they play, (no, this isn't an rp server, don't worry) and have to act as for the entire lecture. We make sure that these lecturers aren't just cookie-cutter 'read everything word-for-word' types; we make sure that they all have a unique, and interesting personality.
As to how lectures actually work? In each lecture, non-lecturers are typically muted unless the lecturer says otherwise. So instead of speaking, members usually have to use a dedicated text channel for "speaking" purposes. The actual content of a lecture is too varied to describe, this is because each lecturer is different and does their own thing every lecture. Annnnnd speaking of lecturers…
We are in dire need of lecturers
Recently, our last non-staff lecturer resigned due to personal issues. The heart of the server is our lecturers but if we have a shortage of them, the server can't function. If you are interested in joining, please also consider lecturing. Anyways, enough begging and lets get to the actual link.
join, if you're inclined
Before i give the link, please make sure that you will contribute to the server when you actually join (chat sometimes, attend lectures, etc…) we do want members, but we want actual ones (sorry if that sounds a bit assholeish, we don't want ghost members).
