Hey all! this is my first post after lots of reading and i can't wait to begin contributing.
I've had this idea for a while and its pretty fleshed out on a google doc so if you have any questions do ask.
The general idea is this:
-Oriental Rug
-resembles a Tibetan prayer mat, a traditional Chinese dragon is depicted amongst other things.
-anything within about a 5m radius will experience a strong feeling of somnolence.
-if subject falls asleep due to the rug’s effects but not on the rug itself subject will proceed to have a regular sleep cycle, consistently reported as ‘damn good nap’ or similar.
-when a subject sleeps on the rug while in its “unclaimed” state, the subject will enter a dreamscape, the subject is now referred to as SCP-XXXX-1.
-the subject is able to control many aspects of dreamscape, such as making things appear and disappear, gravity and passage of time relative to the real world. not the power of a God but close. The rug is now in its “claimed” state.
-when another subject falls asleep on the rug, SCP-XXXX-1, regardless of proximity to the rug, will immediately lose consciousness and enter the dreamscape now with a being with the likeliness of the subject sleeping on the rug also present.
-only SCP-XXXX-1 is able to control the dreamscape with the sleeping subject at the mercy of SCP-XXXX-1’s decisions.
-if the sleeping subject is killed in the dreamscape by the decision of SCP-XXXX-1, subject in the real world on the rug is killed.
-the rug will only rewind to its “unclaimed state” when SCP-XXXX-1 is killed.
Possible way it entered foundation ownership:
it was found in a secluded monastery in the Nepal mountains by a climber, the climber discovered the rugs anomalous properties and used the mat for years, creating an exact likeness of his home and city, populating it with people around him and loads of local wildlife. He crafted this alternate world so accurately that one day he did not realise he was in the real world and got into an argument with a friend about his powers, which prompted him to jump into river rapids planning on manifesting a rubber boat below him as he was about to land, he died of course, and the mat was passed to the police (and then the foundation, nothing concrete yet).
I also think it may be interesting to experiment with a "Euclid, formerly safe" class
, hear me out, in foundation testing, they tried to terminate an unkillable hostile SCP (I'm sure there are many), by placing the mat under it and administering sevoflurane anaesthetic gas to render the scp unconscious, the current "owner" of the mat would be allied to the foundation of course. The hostile scp would then 'fight' SCP-XXXX-1 in the dream world where SCP-XXXX-1 is much stronger, but the unkillable scp managed to kill SCP-XXXX-1 in the dreamscape, "stealing" ownership of the rug. After the incident any human that sleeps on the mat will be killed instantly, along with the strong sleep effect, it would be upped to Euclid. the unkillable SCP would then be rendered unconscious for an amount of time, making for an interesting 'sacrifice a human on the mat to incapacitate said scp for a short amount of time dynamic'.

Thanks so much for reading
sorry for such a long post, do inform me if such an scp exists, though i actually would not mind a similar one existing to give the rug an origin story (monk worshipped said scp and imbued the mat with similar effects), do give criticism, look forward to moving forward with this (hopefully).
